 poles didn't fit together, still waiting for new ones August 30, 2010

Hoop looks great, but the poles didn't fit together. Have now been waiting 4-weeks for replacement poles from Spalding, when I was told by them I'd have 'em in 2. Pfffhhh.

I had a 40x25 foot outdoor basketball court built for my 2 sons who both play in high school, but then I needed a good outdoor hoop and back board set. My youngest son son went online and saw the Spaulding 54' hoop set on sale so I checked it out. After comparing it with others and seeing the great discount I decided to order it. It came with in a week and I then called a local installer up named Mr. Hoop and they came by the next week and installed the set in ground in our back yard. Tomorrow they will come back and paint on the lines for the key, free throw line and 3 point line. This has to be one of my best purchases i've made in a long time it looks great. I also bought the do it yourself line kit but didn't think it would look as good as the painted on lines not chalk like the one that comes with the kit. Overall I'd rate this product a 10 and tell others to buy it also.

Very sturdy (for an adjustable system), good value and looks great. Installation isn't too bad. Warning - do not allow anyone to continue to try to raise the backboard when it's all the way up. You'll bend the J hook like we did. I don't know if it will eventually break or not.

Putting the pole together for this is a nightmare. My husband had to call and have a replacement pole shipped because the original warped while he was trying to pound the pieces together. Spaulding was great about getting the replacement out right away - and the new one is up. But I would never recommend buying a two piece one again - spend the money on one that comes as a single unit. Also the crank system to raise and lower is very difficult. Our kids will never be strong enough.
